20th PA Camp
The 20th Pan Australia Camp was held at The Tops Conference Centre in Stanwell Tops, NSW. This camp was held in conjunction with a Girls’ Brigade and around 220 boys and 120 girls were in attendance.
Day One: boys arrived from all over the country, and BB Australia was also joined by Ronald and Aaron Leong from the 12th Kuala Lumpur Company, Malaysia. The camp was formally opened at a joint session with BB and GB held in the Auditorium.
Day Two: 3 on site activities took place, camp companies were split in two and rotated around those activities which included a giant swing, archery and a high ropes course.
Day Three: The Discover Sydney event took place, a highlight of any PA Camp. Boys were split into their cabin groups and with their cabin leader, took part in an Amazing Race which took them all over Sydney to complete challenges.
Day Four: Boys worked through more onsite activities and a combined BB and GB Celebration was held in the evening. Celebrations were what the whole camp gatherings were referred to as at PAC 20.
Day Five and Six: Days fix and six were electives. Boys could pick from the following:
- Abseiling, Giant Swing and Rock Climbing Adventure
- Beach and Laser Tag
- Bushwalk 1: Coast Track – North Section
- Bushwalk 2: Grand Escarpment Walk
- Blue Mountains Adventure
- Canoe/Kayak Adventure
- Illawarra Fly & Minnamurra Rainforest
- Learn to Surf
- Luna Park
- Paintball
- Powerhouse Museum and Ian Thorpe Pool
- Sydney Bridge Climb
- Wakeboarding & Aqua Park
Day Seven: On Sunday there was a combined GB and BB celebration before free time in the morning. In the afternoon there was a combined trip to the beach, which was walking distance from the camp site.
Day Eight: Boys returned to Sydney, this time not for an amazing race, but for a more relaxed day where they were split up into groups and visited many attractions around Sydney, such as the aquarium.
Day Nine: BB and GB went on a combined trip to Jamberoo, a large water park.
Day Ten: Boys returned to their home states with many good memories. However, a large storm interrupted the Victorian Contingent from making their way to Melbourne, with many not getting back till the early hours of the next morning and with many flights being diverted to Canberra.
