Shortly after its formation The Boys’ Life Brigade published a number of books in 1900, including Code of Rules and Regulations, which stated: The only distinctive uniform worn by Officers is a droop-peak Cap. On parade, a dark tweed or navy blue jacket suit should be worn, with ‘regulation tan’ gloves. Officers should carry a short brown military cane

Photographs from the period record a variety of uniforms being worn, and changes to the uniform was almost an annual occurrence at the annual Brigade council meetings held in September each year.
